Ashraf Fagih is the head of the communications and partnerships division at the King Abdul Aziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) in Dhahran, where he has been since October 2018.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in 2000, before being awarded a master’s in computer science from Texas A&M University in 2004, and his doctorate from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario in 2013.

Fagih then served at KFUPM as a communications officer between February 2015 and January 2018. He has also worked as the senior science editor, and as an editorial consultant, for Al-Qafilah magazine from September 2013 to December 2017.

As part of the Sharqiah Season cultural festivities, Ithra has organized a contemporary art exhibition called “Zamakan,” featuring the work of 11 Saudi and Saudi-based artists, running until September 23.

At the opening ceremony last week, Fagih said: “The mission of Sharqiah Season and this exhibition is the same as Ithra’s — to nurture and support Saudi talent and the quality of the content our nation produces.

“I am so proud of Ithra’s role in bringing these 11 artists together. The collage of beauty is rewarding for both the mind and heart. It is part of Ithra’s mission to create a bridge between world cultures. There are a lot of expats and international visitors here, and we believe this will reveal to the world another colorful dimension of the Kingdom’s identity through the works of our artists.”
