Abdul Aziz Al-Rasheed has been the assistant minister for international financial affairs since January.

He earned a bachelor’s in economics from Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, continuing his studies at the University of Oregon with a post-graduate degree.

He was previously deputy minister of economic affairs and assistant deputy minister for economic policies, and has also worked at the Saudi Food and Drug Authority.

He holds seats on the board of the Saudi International Trade Authority, the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, the General Authority for Statistics, as well as the General Authority of Zakat and Tax.

Speaking this week at the UN Economic and Social Council’s Forum on Financing for Development in New York, Al-Rasheed stressed the importance of collective action to reduce the gap between developed and developing countries across various fields.

Focusing specifically on energy and infrastructure, he said the Kingdom remained a major international development donor, and was committed to increasing its role in the future.

He added that the Kingdom would continue to play its role in stabilizing international energy markets, as part of the Saudi Vision 2030 reform plan to move away from fossil fuels toward a more sustainable and diverse local economy, sharing its technological advances with other nations.
