Oman arrests 650 expats over labor law violations

DUBAI: Oman’s police force arrested 650 expats and deported another 618 for violating the country’s labor law, the Ministry of Manpower announced, according to local daily Times of Oman.

The 650 arrests occurred between March 24 and 30. Of the arrested expat violators, 284 left their jobs, 324 were freelance workers and 42 were referred to by other bodies.

Muscat had the highest number of arrests with 200, while Northern Batinah governate recorded 248 arrests.
