RIYADH: To mark Eid Al-Fitr, arrangements are in place to celebrate the festival that marks the culmination of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Riyadh Governorate, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance and the Riyadh Municipality have made elaborate plans for the occasion.
The Department of Mosques, which functions under the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, has issued instructions for mosques to commence Eid prayers, which will be held in more than 550 designated mosques throughout the capital, alongside special grounds prepared to hold Eid prayers.
Eid Season, a program of cultural and entertainment activities planned for the first time to mark the end of Ramadan, will host “Eid Tents” near places of prayer. The initiative, currently in Riyadh, will be rolled out to the rest of the country in the coming years.
The capital has been bedecked in flags and banners with Eid greetings along the city’s main roads. There are also plans for fireworks at different locations.
The sprawling King Abdullah Park in the Malaz District is one such venue, where dazzling and colorful fireworks will be displayed before midnight during the festivities, besides light show and fountain dance show for thousands of spectators.
