JEDDAH: Every now and then, a mood sets in where you just want to move to the beats of a good song and sweat out the negative vibes.
As an avid exercise junkie, I always try to build my workouts around my work life, but because I do a lot of air miles it can sometimes be difficult to keep up a constant routine.
However, nothing beats a good intense workout like the one I’ve discovered at Cyclana Studio, in Jeddah.
The studio is simplicity itself, consisting of 12 bikes divided into two rows. Trainer, Lana Al-Subahi, has a professional attitude which is at first relaxed and welcoming: But do not be fooled. She’ll soon be coaching you through an intensive workout with a bootcamp-style approach.
As the studio lights dim and the music starts, the added resistance on the bikes will soon have your legs screaming for mercy. But I quickly got into a rhythm not found in any other form of workout.
Al-Subahi’s instructions are loud and clear, and riders perform shoulder presses or push-ups, engage their core and focus on breathing.
The 50-minute intensive cycling class helps with speed, agility, synchronization and best of all, a sense of relief is palpable after a good workout with a great playlist that pumps your adrenaline.
