PARIS: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) organized a symposium titled “the role of humanitarian aid in supporting science and knowledge in the affected areas” and an exhibition at the headquarters of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris on Wednesday.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, general supervisor of KSRelief, said that since joining UNESCO as a founding member in London in 1946, the Kingdom has undertaken many initiatives to alleviate the suffering of the needy around the world by carrying out humanitarian and relief projects.

He added that in light of the increasing variables of crisis situations and humanitarian emergencies, there is a need to keep abreast of the latest developments to fulfil the goals of sustainable development, most notably the eradication of poverty, education for all, gender equality and decent employment opportunities.

Al-Rabeeah stressed that Saudi Arabia, as one of the largest donors of humanitarian assistance, is seeking to move forward in the completion of its international achievements to help the needy in cooperation with the UN. He said that the Kingdom is achieving this by launching pioneering initiatives to support young generations in disaster-stricken societies for a prosperous future.
