RIYADH: Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Culture launched an Arabic Calligraphy 2020 platform, which will provide individuals and institutions with a chance to present work for an Arabic calligraphy initiative.

The Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan announced that 2020 would be designated as the “Year of Arabic Calligraphy.”

During the initiative, the Ministry will provide the desired support (whether is total or partial, logistical or media support) for participation via the electronic platform.

It aims to highlight one of the main components of Arab culture and enrich an ancient art with events and activities that for all to participate in, according to the ministry.

The platform started accepting entries on Jan. 15 and will continue to do so until February 15, after which a committee will select the best entries upon the terms and conditions, while the Ministry will announce the nomination results on March 15.
