OIC to hold family bank workshop for G5S countries

JEDDAH: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold a workshop to promote the concept of family banks in the G5 Sahel countries. 

The two-day Jeddah workshop will be held in partnership with the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Agriculture Jan. 19-20, and targets Burkina Faso, Chad, Niger, Mauritania and Mali.

It aims to support G5 Sahel countries in their efforts to empower women entrepreneurs. The main workshop goals include introducing the concept of family banks that was established by the Sudan Microfinance Unit, exchanging experiences on microfinance expertise and presenting microfinance cases from OIC member countries.
