Saudi King appoints Fahd Al-Rasheed as head of Riyadh royal commission

RIYADH: King Salman has appointed Fahad Al-Rasheed as chief executive officer of a royal commission to develop Riyadh.

The commission aims to develop the capital Riyadh where the government has said it would spend 86 billion riyals ($23 billion) to boost the quality of life.

Al-Rasheed had served as chief executive of Emaar Economic City, a joint venture between the Saudi government and Dubai’s Emaar Properties responsible with developing King Abdullah Economic City.

Saudi Arabia announcd in March projects to increase recreational areas in Riyadh as part of a series of planned development investments across the Kingdom.

The appointment of Al-Rasheed was announced in a royal order published on the state Saudi Press Agency.
